Welcome!
Aha. So it seems you’ve found me. Not that I was hiding or anything; I mean, that would be easy enough on the web, right? I mean it’s far easier to not put up a website, after all. But anyway, here you are.
You may be wondering what there is to do now that you are here. Well, there are several things. There are movie reviews, things about books, and television, to start with. There are recipes. There are games. There are articles and essays about all sorts of things, from silly stuff to politics to rants about any topic. There are stories and poems. There is art. There is a huge picture gallery. There is a webcam (though it isn’t on very often because I haven’t gotten it to work totally right under Windows Vista) and a personal journal. You can also read my dream journal if you like, though it gets pretty weird in there. There is a message board full of the friendliest people you’ll find on the internet, ready to welcome you to our community. There’s lots more, but that’s a start at least.
If you’re looking for something specific, just use the search form there on the top left. Poke around, try not to get lost, have fun, tell your friends. Oh, and pack a lunch.

Thought of the moment:
So lately I’ve started playing this addictive game on my Android phone and my Kindle Fire called Draw Something. I think I have something like 18 simultaneous games going with different people right now—mostly people I know on Facebook. Anyway, it’s like Pictionary—you’re given 3 words to choose from (easy, medium, hard) and you pick one and then draw it. It is then sent to the other person (a game is between two people) and they not only see your drawing, but they see it in “real time” the way you drew it—which can be handy because you can kind of do quasi-animation that way. They also see how many letters your word is, and they have a selection of letters to choose from to make your word, so they have a little bit of an advantage over guessing blind. Anyway, after they guess, they draw a word for you to guess. It’s a lot of fun, and very addictive. If you want to play with me my username in the game is KatherineH1972. Just create a game and I’ll play back with you.

Recipe: Bean Tostadas
Tostadas are a favorite of mine, because they’re tasty and easy to make. They could be described as an “unfolded taco” fairly accurately. While this recipe is for vegetarian bean tostadas, you can adapt the recipe to make them with veggie crumbles (TVP) to make them similar to beef tostadas (see instructions below), or, if you aren’t a vegetarian, you can make them with shredded or ground beef or shredded chicken.

American Gothic Time Lapse Movie (2007)
Another one of several of these time-lapse movies that I assembled from webcam images taken while I worked on a painting. This is from February 2007; the painting was an assignment for a Painting II class. The assignment was to break up the famous painting “American Gothic” into six rectangles and paint each one in a different style. Three of the styles were assigned: “replica” (as close to the original as possible—upper right corner), “monochrome”...

Recipe: Black Beans and Rice
This is a recipe I came up with years ago as a side dish for when I cook Mexican food. My husband likes to make it as a dip for tortilla chips. It’s whatever you want it to be, I guess!

Game Review: Cards Against Humanity
I was introduced to this game over my birthday party weekend in mid-February by my brothers-and-sisters-in-law from Atlanta. This game is cheap, because you print it yourself from CardsAgainstHumanity.com. All it costs is paper and toner/ink from your printer. Alternately, you can have it printed for you, which is what I did. I had it printed at Staples on heavy card stock, with the white cards printed on white and the black cards printed on...

Lip Balm Labels Logo Poll
I'm designing the labels for my homemade lip balm. The brand name is Opal Essence Lip Care. I want a logo that is just the letters "OE" together. Each of these labels is the same except for the "OE" logo part. Logos are shown against a blue and a green example label, as I haven't decided which to use yet. The labels are displayed at 50% size; click on them to see them at...

Recipe: Refried Beans (Crock Pot)
In crock pot, cook beans, salt, cumin, and chili powder on high.
In a skillet, heat onions and garlic in the olive oil until tender. Use a food processor or stick blender to make the oil/garlic/onion mix into a slushy liquid…(Food)

40-year "no accident" streak broken this morning :(
So this morning I was leaving for work and go to the top of my steep, curving driveway, from where I turn left onto my street to go to work. The mailbox is to my left and there are bushes there which have overgrown and block visibility of oncoming traffic. My landlord is supposed to maintain the yard/landscaping--it's in our lease that the only stuff we have to do is mow the lawn--and the wide-angle...

A dream about a psychopath
So the dream started out with being in Florida, and hearing about a man who had been shot by a man after kidnapping a boy (about 10 or 11 years old). Somehow then I was following the action live, and the man who had rescued the boy had him on a boat and was taking him somewhere to safety or something, when the kid managed to arrange things in such a way that it looked...

Very disturbing and violent dream
Cat coming down stairs with long intestine pouring blood. heads explode. Shane painting crack on the wall. Had to do something or everyone would die
I only remember patchy bits of this dream... I'll try to describe the visuals I remember. There was something that created a great pressure, like an explosion only much slower. I was somewhere with a staircase leading up one wall and a cat was trotting down the stairs with...~ 01/09/2012 05:27 PM

Prison/Theme Park
There was a part of my dream at the beginning that took place at a hotel with a friend of mine but I don't remember anything else about it. Then Rob picked up Dominic and me and we were going to this Sponge Bob themed park type place for the day, but Rob had to do something (for work I think) first, and so Dominic and I got dropped off at this prison facility to...
